REPORT: Man City Are In 'Pole Position' To Seal £90M Summer Transfer Ahead Of PL Rivals

Man City believe they are in “pole position” to secure the signature of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, according to reports.

Manchester United and Liverpool are also said to be keen on the England international but TEAMtalk claim that the Cityzens are confident that the player will make the switch to Etihad this summer.

Anderson is expected to be on the move, no matter whether Forest stay up or are relegated this season, with a fee in excess of £90m likely to be accepted.

It is believed that the 23-year-old’s representatives are already holding talks with City and other teams about a transfer at the end of the campaign.

Anderson could be a Man City player BEFORE the World Cup

Sporting director Hugo Viana is reportedly looking to get a deal in place to sign the midfielder as soon as possible.

Many assumed that, with the sizeable asking price, it could take time for an agreement to be reached between Forest and City for Anderson.

However, there appears to be confidence that a deal could be wrapped up soon after the season comes to an end. While there is no guarantee that Anderson will be a City player before he plays in the World Cup for England, it is something that Viana is hoping will happen.

Man City’s midfield is set for a major revamp

Captain Bernardo Silva, Mateo Kovacic and Rico Lewis could all be set to move over the coming months, while there are also doubts about the future of Rodri.

It means there will be a huge gap to fill in the middle of the park, and Anderson seems to be the centre piece of the rebuild.

The sheer number of potential departures, though, mean that Anderson may not be the only fresh face brought in to strengthen the midfield.
