Liverpool will hope to boost their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League by beating Wolves in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
The Reds have endured a difficult defence of their top flight crown so far and currently sit fifth in the table, although a 5-2 win over West Ham United last time out did boost their hopes of a top four finish.
Arne Slot’s side will be overwhelming favourites to get the better of Wolves, who picked up only their second win of the league season so far when they beat Aston Villa on Friday evening.
In the meantime, it has emerged that Premier League champions Liverpool are set to rival current leaders Arsenal in the race to sign an Italian defender.
As reported by CaughtOffside, both Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni.
The report claims that the Italy international – who has established himself as a key player for the club over recent seasons – is emerging on the radar of several top European clubs, with La Liga champions Barcelona also credited with an interest.

Bastoni, 26, joined Inter from fellow Italian outfit Atalanta back in the summer of 2027 but immediately returned to Bergamo on loan.
He then enjoyed a successful loan spell at Parma, but since returning to Inter in 2019 the centre-back has built a reputation as one of the best in Europe in his position.
The report claims that the Serie A leaders view Bastoni as ‘untouchable’ and will not consider selling him, however it is also suggested that the club may be tempted to sell the player for a fee in excess of £80 million.
Both Chelsea and Manchester City are also said to have shown interest in the Italian defender, however the two clubs are said to have exercised more caution than Arsenal and Liverpool.
Bastoni’s current contract with Inter is set to expire in 2028, but the report suggests that the Italian outfit are attempting to negotiate an extension.
