Opinion: Everton will be pleased with the referee appointment for Burnley clash

Everton are back in Premier League action on Tuesday evening as they take on Burnley at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton defeated Newcastle United 3-2 at the weekend, so they’re in search of back-to-back wins tomorrow evening.

There is a bit of pressure riding on the Burnley game, as the Toffees’ home form has been under huge scrutiny in recent months.

David Moyes’ side can go level with seventh-placed Brentford with victory, so it’s really a must-win game in their quest for Europe.

Ahead of the Hill Dickinson Stadium clash, the Premier League have just announced that Tim Robinson will be the referee, which Moyes and his staff will be pleased about.

Everton are unbeaten with Tim Robinson as referee

Robinson will be joined by Stuart Burt and Nick Greenhalgh as his assistant referees. Neil Davies is on VAR duty alongside Michael Salisbury.

Referee: Tim Robinson

Assistants: Stuart Burt, Nick Greenhalgh

Fourth official: Anthony Backhouse

Assistant VAR: Michael Salisbury

Robinson seems to be a good omen for the Toffees, as they’re unbeaten in all four of his games as referee.

Interestingly, the last time he refereed the Merseysiders was just over a year ago against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex, which was Moyes’ first win back at the club.

Tim Robinson’s record with Everton

The 42-year-old official awarded Everton a penalty in that game, which Iliman Ndiaye duly converted.

He also gave them a penalty in the game before that against Luton Town; this time, it was Dominic Calvert-Lewin who scored it.

So, that’s certainly a trend to keep an eye on tomorrow evening.
