Liverpool look to have clicked into gear at exactly the right time, dismantling West Ham with a 5-2 win at Anfield to keep their push for a top-four finish firmly on track.

Arne Slot’s side have now backed up their late victory at Nottingham Forest with another high-scoring display, a timely boost heading into a packed March which will see them juggle Premier League fixtures with FA Cup and Champions League commitments.

With knockout ties and season-defining league games coming thick and fast, building this kind of momentum feels vital if Liverpool are to salvage something from this campaign.

On the transfer front, the club have also been busy, with young winger Trent Kone-Doherty sealing a permanent move to Norwegian side Molde FK over the weekend.

The 19-year-old Republic of Ireland youth international has left Anfield after turning down a new contract, opting instead for a switch that should hand him a clearer pathway to regular first-team football.

His move, agreed for a fee believed to be around €750,000 and reportedly including future-protection clauses for Liverpool, closes the chapter on his four-year spell on Merseyside and gives him the chance to kick-start his senior career in the Eliteserien.

Club Sporting director Ole Jakob Strandhagen, speaking to the club’s media channel, has thanked Liverpool for their openness in negotiations:

“Trent is a technically good and fast winger who has shown his skills and not least potential in the final third during his time at Liverpool. At the same time, he has intensity and pressure in the game that benefits the team both with and without the ball, says Ole Jakob.

“He is well educated at Liverpool, and we are very happy that he has chosen Molde as the next step in his development. The process has been good and we thank Liverpool for a good negotiating climate, despite the fact that they also had a strong desire to keep Trent. We look forward to further developing his offensive qualities at Aker Stadion and in the Eliteserien.”
