Arsenal make offer for attacking midfielder – Gunners bid €10m short of asking price

17-year-old Vasilije Kostov is increasingly becoming a star for Red Star Belgrade. The teenager is now attracting interest from Arsenal, with Inter Milan also battling for his signature.

At a young age, Kostov has already played over 30 times for the Serbian club’s first team. Impressively enough, he has already found the net 12 times, racking up six assists on the way too. Two of his goals have also come in the Europa League.

The young attacking midfielder made his debut back in the 2024/25 season. This came after he also made quite a mark for Red Star’s youth teams.

Now, attention on him is growing. Calciomercato IT have provided details about Arsenal’s interest in Kostov.

Gunners have bid rejected

The outlet reports the teenager dreams of a move to the Premier League.

It is believed Arsenal are ‘very interested’ in him. The London club have gone to the point of actually making a significant €20m offer, which was promptly rejected by Red Star.

As of now, the Serbian side are aiming to collect about €30m from the youngster’s sale. It would be the biggest sale in their history, with Inter also placing themselves firmly in the race.

Stankovic presence can blow Arsenal away

The report further notes that the Nerazzurri may have an advantage in the race. This is because club legend Dejan Stankovic is currently the Red Star manager and can push Kostov towards the Italian giants.

Inter see the ex-midfielder as an ally who will help in a possible deal to beat Arsenal. Stankovic is attempting to convince the midfielder about joining the Serie A league leaders.

Beyond that, Kostov is represented by Nikola Kolarov, who is the brother of ex-Inter player Aleksandar. He is currently the assistant to manager Cristian Chivu and this can also play a key role for Inter in the next few months.

There is also interest from Juventus and Bayern Munich but it feels like Arsenal and Inter are ahead in the battle.
