Top NFL Draft prospect KC Concepcion opens up on speech impediment

Former Texas A&M football star KC Concepcion was among the 2026 NFL Draft prospects who impressed scouts over the past week with a strong performance at the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Concepcion is coming off a breakout year and is one of the fastest-rising prospects in this year’s class.

During the Combine, however, Concepcion found himself addressing something that had nothing to do with his talents as a player. When speaking to the media, social media discovered Concepcion has a speech impediment, which led to some disappointing comments making the rounds.

Concepcion took the comments in stride and issued a powerful, heartfelt message on social media, sticking up for those who are in similar situations.

Concepcion’s heartfelt message

“I just wanna say something, if you have a speech impediment, there is nothing wrong with us,” Concepcion wrote on Instagram. “I have had this stutter since I can remember talking. This is a part of me, this is who I am, I cannot control this.

“I wanna be a role model for those who may be scared to speak up, who may be afraid and not confident in yourself. I stand with you. This weekend has taught me a lot about myself and people out here in this world.”

He continued, “I appreciate everyone who supports me and has reached out to me after these interviews. Don’t let an outside person’s thoughts or opinions get in the way of you being great or you achieving something in life. I am blessed to be in the position that I am in, and I want to help give back to those who are scared to speak up. I stand with you. I will always stand with you.

“We are different for a reason. God has blessed my life in a way I couldn’t even imagine in the past year. I love y’all and support y’all as we climb this mountain together.”

During the combine, Concepcion put on a show, and is expected to be one of the first wide receivers called in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

In his final year of college football, Concepcion hauled in 61 catches for a career-high 919 yards and 10 touchdowns. The 2026 NFL Draft will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from Thursday, April 23, through Saturday, April 25.
