Bills Get Bad News on Rumored $106.5 Million Trade Target

The Buffalo Bills are shaking things up again with another new staff hire following new head coach Joe Brady.

The Buffalo Bills have been on a nearly annual quest to boost their pass rush, but this year’s dream target may be falling out of reach.

The Bills have taken some big swings at pass rushers in recent offseasons, signing Von Miller and later Joey Bosa in moves that brought some limited results but largely fell flat in attempts to bring a long-term force to the edge rushing group.

Some insiders believe the Bills could try again with Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby, but a recent report indicates that his chances of being traded could be growing slimmer.

Raiders Want to Keep Maxx Crosby

Though reports indicated that Crosby was unhappy with the way the Raiders ended his season, placing him on injured reserve for the final two games when Crosby thought he was healthy enough to play, the Raiders may be trying to keep him for 2026. The team had signed him to a $106.5 million contract extension, and doesn’t appear too willing to give him up.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Crosby has not explicitly asked the team for a trade — and the price could be prohibitively high if he does.

“It’s somewhat quiet on the Maxx Crosby front,” Fowler reported. “This is a layered discussion because a team source said a few weeks ago that Crosby’s chances of returning were relatively small. But he doesn’t plan to request a trade. He’s tight with Raiders owner Mark Davis, and he probably wouldn’t garner a Micah Parsons-like trade package (two firsts and a key player).”

Fowler also quoted an unnamed league executive who cast doubt on the idea that Crosby could be traded.

“I think the price is too high,” an NFC executive said. “I’m not sure they really want to move him at this point. But that could change.”

The Bills had been named among the half-dozen or so teams with a stronger interest in Crosby. Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports suggested the Bills might be willing to meet his asking price, suggesting the team could land him for a pair of first-round picks along with wide receiver Keon Coleman.

“If there were a team willing to go full [Micah] Parsons and send Las Vegas two first-round picks plus a player, there’s a strong argument it would be Buffalo.” Sullivan wrote. “President of football operations Brandon Beane may also be feeling enough pressure to pull the trigger.”

Bills Could Take Another Big Swing

Though the prospect of landing Crosby could be getting more remote, the Bills have been linked to another blockbuster trade target — Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports noted that new Bills head coach Joe Brady has a long history with Jefferson, and the Bills need a No. 1 wide receiver for Josh Allen.

“Joe Brady’s name popped up on NFL radars in 2019, when he served as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at LSU,” Dajani wrote. “The undefeated Tigers had a historical season, which was powered by the play of Joe Burrow, Justin Jeffersonand Ja’Marr Chase. Now, he’s the head coach of the Bills, and this offseason, Buffalo makes an aggressive move to pair its new coach with a friend of his — sending the Minnesota Vikings a package of picks for Jefferson.”
