Green Bay Packers: Romeo Doubs once again linked to AFC contender for the 2026 NFL season

In less than two weeks, the Green Bay Packers will see some of their players hit free agency. Due to their limited salary cap resources this year, Green Bay itself will not be making major free agent signings. This includes not bringing back most of their own impending free agent players. While there are maybe a handful that could be retained on team-friendly deals, the majority of them will be playing elsewhere next season.

This includes wide receiver Romeo Doubs, who has finished his four-year rookie contract with the Packers. Due to the nature of Green Bay’s roster construction at the wide receiver position, it is very unlikely that he will be back.

There are, however, multiple teams that are interested in Doubs’ services, including one of the AFC’s perennial contenders.

According to ESPN NFL insiders, the Buffalo Bills are a team to watch for in terms of interest in Doubs. They have made it known around the NFL that they are looking for some quality wide receiver depth:

“Rival teams expect Buffalo to strongly address wide receiver in the coming weeks. And multiple league executives are linking Rashid Shaheed or Romeo Doubs to the Bills. Alec Pierce will most likely be out of their price range.”

Doubs had 55 receptions for a career high 724 receiving yards in 2025. He led Green Bay in both categories, and tied for the team lead with six touchdown receptions.

While Doubs has been a more reliable receiver than many fans give him credit for (he had a 3.5% drop percentage in 202%), the fact of the matter is that the Packers do not have room for him anymore.

With the selections of Matthew Golden and Savion Williams in last year’s draft, as well as the one-year contract extension given to Christian Watson, it is clear that Green Bay’s future plans do not include Doubs.

What will be very interesting to see is what happens down the road with Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks, both of whom are entering their final rookie contract years in 2026.
