WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - After three seasons with the team, national outlets are reporting that the Kansas City Chiefs are parting ways with offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter, citing “sources,” said that the Chiefs informed the 2019 second-round pick that he’ll be released before the start of the league year, barring a trade.
Schefter reports that releasing Taylor “will save Kansas City $20 million under the cap.”
Taylor, selected 35th overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, has spent nearly half of his career with the Chiefs. Taylor was the most penalized player in the NFL in his first season in Kansas City, but he’s also credited for helping to limit pressure on Patrick Mahomes during playoff runs that included the Chiefs’ second consecutive Super Bowl in the 2023 season.
