The 2026 Scouting Combine comes to a close today, as the last group of players is headed out of Indianapolis this afternoon. That brings the week-long marathon to an end, and we have some better ideas about what players might well end up on the Green Bay Packers’ draft board at the end of April.
With the annual gathering complete, team executives are also headed back to their respective facilities to work on preparations for the start of free agency and the new league year next Wednesday. There’s no rest for the weary here; negotiations with unrestricted free agents can formally begin exactly one week from today, and teams need to get their houses in order and make decisions on their own players before then. Additionally, franchise and transition tag decisions must be finalized by Tuesday afternoon, giving teams a little over 24 hours to make those calls.
For the Packers, the decisions around free agents-to-be are fairly straightforward. The bigger calls will be about players still under contract — namely, whether they will keep those players for 2026. Elgton Jenkins is almost assuredly gone, but Rashan Gary’s future with the Packers remains a major question mark, especially given Brian Gutekunst’s comments at the podium last Tuesday.
Expect plenty of news out of Green Bay in the next few days leading up to the start of the new league year.
