Jayson Tatum return date announced by NBA insider

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is reportedly targeting a Friday (March 6) return against the Dallas Mavericks after recovering from a torn Achilles.

Jayson Tatum is reportedly closing in on his return from last season's torn Achilles, according to NBA podcaster and insider Bill Simmons.

"Tatum, it feels like it's gonna be Friday vs. Dallas. All signs are pointing to Friday, Dallas," Simmons said on his podcast.

The Boston Celtics are set to play the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night in the second game of a back-to-back. They will then host the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday before welcoming the Dallas Mavericks on Friday (March 6).

The five-time All-NBA forward has recently been seen participating in scrimmages with his teammates. ESPN insider Shams Charania reported that Tatum has been a "full-go" in the team's five-on-five sessions.

Celtics fans initially targeted March 1 as a possible return date, but he remained sidelined for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Despite his absence, Boston has exceeded expectations. The Celtics currently sit second in the Eastern Conference with a 40-20 record, defying preseason concerns about a potential drop-off following Tatum's injury and last summer's roster changes.
