David Moyes held his pre-match Burnley press conference this afternoon, and he actually made an interesting transfer admission when asked about Clarets manager Scott Parker.
“I actually tried to sign him here a couple of times here for Everton when I was a manager here, and he was still a player… that sounds terrible, doesn’t it!
“So from that point of view… I obviously recognise him as a player in his time, and I think he’s doing a really good job at Burnley as well.”
When asked why the Parker transfer fell through, Moyes replied: “I can’t remember the different reasons why, I got asked… I was thinking about it in my programme notes.
“I just couldn’t quite remember the reasons it fell through.”

Everton were in talks to sign Scott Parker in 2005
Digging back into the archives, there is a report from the Independent in 2005 that states Everton were in talks to sign Parker.
It was claimed that the Toffees were exploring a deal to sign the Chelsea midfielder for around £6m ahead of the summer window.
The then 24-year-old was frustrated by his lack of playing time at Stamford Bridge and was open to a switch to Goodison Park.
It also notes that Parker had been very high up on Moyes’ transfer wishlist for some time.
Ultimately, the transfer never went through and the 18-cap England international ended up joining Newcastle United that summer instead.
Upon signing for the Magpies, Parker said: “I know how big the club is. I was impressed with the manager Graeme Souness. He’s a major factor behind my decision.”
