Liverpool are weighing up a summer bid for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nathaniel Brown, according to reports.

TEAMtalk claim that the Reds have sent scouts to watch the German international “multiple times” this season, and it suggests their interest in the player is pretty serious.

Brown is an attack-minded left-back, so it does appear as if sporting director Richard Hughes has identified him as a potential replacement for Andy Robertson.

The Scotland captain is out of contract at the end of the season, and it is looking increasingly likely that he will leave on a free transfer. Get an Andy Robertson training jersey from UK Soccer Shop here.

Brown has a sizeable price tag

Frankfurt have reportedly set their valuation at a hefty €65m (£57m), so the 23-year-old could potentially be one of the most expensive fullbacks in history if he does make the switch to Anfield.

While Liverpool do have a good relationship with Frankfurt, having signed Hugo Ekitike from the Bundesliga side last summer, they are unlikely to lower the asking price for one of their best players.

Liverpool are not the only Premier League club interested

Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in Brown over the past few months.

Out of the three teams, United are the ones most in need of a new left-back, with Tyrell Malacia set to be offloaded and Luke Shaw now 30 years of age. However, the Red Devils are expected to prioritise deals for midfielders.

It remains to be seen whether that will leave the way clear for the Merseysider to purchase Brown, but it seems like he is one of the Reds’ top summer targets.
