Roy Keane’s Chelsea prediction comes true as Gary Neville’s Pedro Neto claim backfires

Roy Keane and Gary Neville both made interesting comments before Chelsea’s match against Arsenal on Sunday.

The Blues travelled to the Emirates Stadium as the underdogs, but with more than enough quality to cause an upset.

However, Liam Rosenior’s side came unstuck due to some dismal set-piece defending and Pedro Neto’s red card.

While Keane’s pre-game prediction came true, Neville’s intriguing comments on Neto were made to look foolish.

Roy Keane predicted Chelsea red card vs Arsenal

Roy Keane correctly predicted that Chelsea would “do something daft” against Arsenal, like getting another red card.

“They will do something silly and get a man sent off again,” Keane said on last week’s episode of The Overlap. “Chelsea will do something daft, you watch.”

The Manchester United legend was proven right in the second half when Pedro Neto received a second yellow card.

Having just been booked for arguing with the referee, Neto slide-tackled Gabriel Martinelli to stop an Arsenal counterattack.

Considering Martinelli was only on the touchline, a long way from the goal, “daft” is a perfect description for Neto’s decision.

Chelsea have earned a reputation as a reckless team, having accumulated nine red cards in all competitions already this season.

Gary Neville must regret Eden Hazard comparison

Meanwhile, Gary Neville’s comparison between Pedro Neto and Eden Hazard on The Overlap last week now looks even worse.

Neville asked Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez: “If you look at [Neto], he’s a massive talent, and you think of him as Hazard-like in his style…”

Neto’s poor performance against Arsenal has since vindicated Martinez’s blunt response to the question.

“No,” Martinez replied. “Eden Hazard was someone who would stop the game and find his 1v1. Neto is the opposite; he accelerates the game. They are different players.”

It was already an outlandish comparison between an all-time great and a decent Premier League player, but Neville must be feeling embarrassed now.
