Entering the 2026 offseason, the San Francisco 49ers have two major needs to address, one on each side of the ball. Offensively, the team desperately needs another wide receiver.
Ricky Pearsall is the only option under contract who's a starter-caliber WR. Jauan Jennings is a free agent, and Brandon Aiyuk is going to be cut. The 49ers need another WR, and badly.
There are some solid options this offseason, and ESPN's Jeremy Fowler linked the 49ers to a Green Bay Packers WR who had 724 yards last season. That free agent is Romeo Doubs, and he could be a quality replacement for Jennings this offseason.
49ers linked to Romeo Doubs as Jauan Jennings replacement
"The 49ers are a sneaky contender for some of the good free agents along the defensive line and at wide receiver," Fowler writes. "At wideout, Green Bay's Romeo Doubs is considered a good fit for San Francisco's offense and a potential option, along with Minnesota's Jalen Nailor."
This offseason, the 49ers will need to add at least one wide receiver. Doubs, a veteran from the Packers, would be a great fit for the Kyle Shanahan offense.
While he's not the best wide receiver, the 6-foot-2, 204-pound receiver is a good pairing with Pearsall in the 49ers offense.
He had 724 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 55 receptions last season, and overall, has been a consistently solid receiver for the Packers the last four years.

In his 59-game NFL career through four seasons, Doubs has 2,434 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns on 202 receptions. He's a fantastic No. 2, and if the 49ers can add a rookie in the 2026 NFL Draft, the WR trio could be in good shape for 2026.
Jalen Nailor of the Minnesota Vikings is also a depth option the 49ers are linked to and could consider. He's put up at least 400 yard sand four TDs the last two years despite having just 28 and 29 receptions in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, respectively.
The 49ers need wide receiver help, and adding someone like Doubs or Nailor would be great. The Packers veteran is a great free agent target, as he's not going to cost too much in free agency, while still being a great WR for Brock Purdy.
