Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover earns bonus for set-piece goals

Arsenal’s set-piece coach Nicolas Jover has a contract that includes a bonus for goals scored from dead-ball situations, according to The Athletic.

The Gunners scored twice from dead-ball situations in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea.

William Saliba and Jurien Timber scored twice from corners, securing the win at the Emirates Stadium and keeping Arsenal firmly at the top of the league.

The goals took Arsenal’s tally from corners this season to 16, matching the joint-most in a single campaign alongside Oldham Athletic (1992-93), West Bromwich Albion (2016-17) and themselves (2023-24).

Jover, who was reportedly courted by several top clubs before agreeing to stay with Arsenal, secured the bonus during contract negotiations following Mikel Arteta’s deal renewal in September 2024.

The club finalised contracts for Jover, assistant Albert Stuivenberg and goalkeeper coach Inaki Cana in 2025, aligning them with Arteta’s deal through 2027.

Arsenal have gone 1-0 up from a corner on nine occasions this season, equalling Southampton’s 1994-95 Premier League record for most opening-goal corners in a campaign.

They have also scored nine match-winning goals from corners this season, the highest in Premier League history, surpassing Manchester United’s eight in the 2012-13 campaign.

Arsenal’s set-piece prowess has helped them maintain a five-point lead over Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

Jover will be hoping the Gunners continue their consistent and productive set-piece displays, keeping their sights firmly on Premier League glory.
