Beto releases statement to Everton fans after tough six months

Beto made his first Premier League start since December in Everton’s 3-2 win against Newcastle United on the weekend.

Beto scored his fifth goal of the season against the Magpies, and David Moyes was full of praise for the Everton striker.

What did you make of this man against Newcastle? 👏

He simply MUST keep his spot in the XI to face Burnley! 🔥

Beto celebrates his goal for Everton in the away victory against Newcastle United.

Beto admitted after the game that it’s been a tough season, as he’s dropped behind Thierno Barry in the pecking order.

Speaking to Everton’s website, the 28-year-old released a statement to Toffees supporters thanking them for sticking by him.

“It’s amazing,” Beto stated.

“You know, for me, they support me so much. They see my effort and I just don’t want to let them down.

“I know sometimes I let them down, but yeah, it’s football. And today they showed again, even when I miss the opportunity, they kept singing my name and they’re amazing.

“They gave us support right after the loss against Man United and they are here like crazy.

David Moyes still wants more from Beto

Speaking in his pre-match Burnley press conference, Moyes admitted he still wants more from Beto, as his numbers haven’t been good enough this term.

Admittedly, the 28-year-old hasn’t had too many opportunities, having only started 10 games in all competitions.

But, it wouldn’t at all be surprising if Beto goes on a run now, as historically, he is a purple patch type of striker.

During the middle part of last season, the Guinea-Bissau international scored five goals in four games and then netted two in two.

So, Moyes will be hopeful he can replicate that same form in the final 10 games of the campaign, as the Toffees aim for Europe.
