Concepcion’s speech impediment is not new; it has been a defining part of his journey from NC State to Texas A&M.

The stutter is hereditary. His father, Kevin Concepcion Sr. (who played at the University of Buffalo), also stutters. His father has spoken openly about how he used to cry from the frustration of his speech impediment, whereas KC has always "embraced it."
KC attended speech therapy classes as a child but eventually stopped in middle school. He intentionally speaks more often to get comfortable with his voice.

As Concepcion sat for his podium interviews, clips of his responses circulated on social media. Because Concepcion has a lifelong stutter, some users posted derogatory comments and mocked his speech.
Many NFL analysts, including Ryan Clark, immediately pushed back against the trolls, praising Concepcion’s confidence. Clark noted that Concepcion "never shrunk" despite the spotlight.

Concepcion views his stutter as a permanent part of his identity. He has stated that he wants to be a role model for others with speech impediments, telling them: "I have had this stutter since I can remember talking... this is a part of me, this is who I am."

"I just wanna say something," Concepcion said. "If you have a speech impediment, there is nothing wrong with us. I have had this stutter since I can remember talking. This is a part of me. This is who I am. I cannot control this. I wanna be a role model for those who may be scared to speak up, who may be afraid and not confident in yourself. I stand with you."
He continued by reflecting on his experience over the weekend:
"This weekend has taught me a lot about myself and people out there in this world. I appreciate everyone who supports me and has reached out to me after these interviews. Don't let (an) outside person's thoughts, opinions get in the way of you being great, of achieving something in life."
He concluded his post with the hashtag #StopTheNegativity, emphasizing that "we are different for a reason" and that he would always stand with those who feel "scared to speak up."

Concepcion has put together a highly productive collegiate career spanning two seasons at NC State and his final year at Texas A&M. Known for his versatility as both a receiver and a return specialist, he has consistently been a focal point of his offenses.

During his breakout 2025 season, Concepcion became one of the nation’s most dangerous weapons, returning 25 punts for 456 yards and two touchdowns. He ranked third in the FBS in both punt return average (over 18 yards per return) and total returns of 30-plus yards.
Concepcion solidified his "triple-threat" status by becoming the first Texas A&M player in the modern era to score via reception, rush, and punt return in a single season. By the end of his collegiate career, he amassed over 500 punt return yards, primarily during his high-impact junior year.
He brought home plenty of accolades as well, including being a Consensus All-American and First-Team All-SEC; he was named to the All-SEC First Team at three different positions: wide receiver, return specialist, and all-purpose player.
Before he transferred to Texas A&M, Concepcion was lighting it up at N.C. State. He swept the ACC’s freshman honors, being named both the overall Rookie of the Year and the Offensive Rookie of the Year. Concepcion also earned Freshman All-American honors from the FWAA, The Athletic, and PFF after setting NC State freshman records for catches (71) and touchdowns (10).

Concepcion opted out of all athletic testing, including the 40-yard dash, at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine.
