“I don’t know whether that’s because he’s at Everton and they’re mid-table and we don’t see them playing in the Champions League etc.

“He’s been brilliant in the big games, brilliant for England. Yes, he’s got a big personality and he kind of gets a bit agitated at times. But I played with Pete Shilton for years, no one got more agitated at his defenders than he did. I loved his (Pickford’s) celebration of that save though.”
Pickford is among the best in the business
Lineker’s verdict will be welcomed by Everton fans, who have long acknowledged the quality and consistency of Pickford.
At this point, it would be hard to argue against putting him in that bracket of top goalkeepers in the world.
Jordan Pickford for Everton
Appearances – 348
Clean sheets – 98
Goals conceded – 480
His shot-stopping and reflexes are simply out of this world at times, and he also distributes very well as all ‘keepers in the game today need to.
It doesn’t bear thinking about where Everton would be had Pickford not been as good as he has over the last few years.
