Of course, both Rennes and Jacquet wanted to be dispensed from such a radical outcome, but the future Liverpool centre-back’s pain tests were inconclusive, and surgery remained the only option. **Ouest-France** reports that Liverpool were in close contact with Jacquet and the Ligue 1 side.
