The New York Giants are eyeing a specific position in NFL free agency this offseason.
SNY's Connor Hughes reports that New York is looking to sign one of the top free agent running backs, with Kenneth Walker being the primary option.
"Whether they land a player such as Seattle’s Kenneth Walker or Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love remains to be seen, but expect a strong push for established free agent options, including Walker and others. Love is among the prospects they are expected to discuss deeper into the draft process," Hughes wrote.
Running back is a need for the Giants, as Cam Skattebo is still recovering from a knee injury, and adding an impact running back would take some pressure off quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Hughes linked New York to Walker, who won Super Bowl LX MVP and is coming off one of the better years of his career. However, Jacksonville Jaguars free agent Travis Etienne could also be an option for the Giants.
Etienne tallied over 1,000 rushing yards for the third time in his career in 2025 and was a dynamic playmaker for the Jaguars.
If he departs Jacksonville, New York should target the versatile back and upgrade one of the most pressing needs on offense.
We'll see whether Walker or Etienne hits the market, but they should emerge as targets for the Giants.
