LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - OCTOBER 24: Defensive end Maxx Crosby #98 of the Las Vegas Raiders moves in to sack quarterback Jalen Hurts #1 of the Philadelphia Eagles after a botched snap on a play that was wiped out on a delay-of-game penalty against the Eagles during their game at Allegiant Stadium on October 24, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The noise surrounding a potential Maxx Crosby trade continues to grow.

What started as routine offseason speculation has quickly turned into multiple national insiders hinting that a trade could realistically happen and possibly sooner than expected.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer said he would “lean toward a Maxx Crosby trade happening, and maybe this week.” Breer specifically mentioned Philadelphia among the teams monitoring the situation.

“We should know soon enough which path the Raiders are taking, with teams like Dallas, Chicago, Baltimore, Buffalo, New England, Philadelphia and the Rams keeping tabs on his availability.”

Add in recent comments from Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter, and it’s clear there is legitimate movement behind the scenes.

For the Eagles, this is the kind of development that could change their entire offseason outlook.

General manager Howie Roseman rarely sits out when an elite player becomes available. Even with a tight cap situation and big extensions looming for young defensive stars, Philadelphia has consistently found creative ways to stay in the mix. If Crosby is truly attainable, the Eagles will take their chance.

Breer and Rapoport Signal Momentum for the Eagles

Breer made it clear that while the Raiders do not want to publicly shop Crosby, there is logic to a split. He pointed out that Las Vegas is likely heading toward a rookie quarterback and a long- term rebuild.

The question becomes whether Crosby, who turns 29 in August, fits that timeline. Breer emphasized that “there’s going to have to be some needle threading,” but he also acknowledged that now may be the time for the Raiders to maximize value.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport echoed that sentiment at the NFL Combine. He said that “in the bars and in the restaurants and hallways at the NFL Combine, a lot of conversations around Maxx Crosby are occurring.”

Rapoport added that Crosby’s future with the Raiders is “up in the air.” While the team has publicly maintained it wants to keep him, Rapoport noted that Crosby himself has not said much, and that silence has only intensified league wide speculation.

For the Eagles, when this much smoke starts circulating, it usually means they are at least checking in. Roseman has never been shy about making a call when a true game-changer could potentially become available.

Schefter Reveals Potential Price Tag Eagles Must Consider

ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently reported that the Raiders’ asking price could mirror the package the Cowboys received for Micah Parsons. This would mean two first round picks and a premium player.

That is a steep cost, especially for a player coming off surgery in back to back seasons. Crosby is also signed through 2029 with a cap hit north of $35 million next year.

Schefter also added an interesting layer to the conversation during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show Monday morning.

“I think A.J. Brown and Maxx Crosby are in a similar situation. Both teams not wanting to deal their guys but both teams are open to listening. It would take an offer that both teams couldn’t say no to.”

That comparison hits home in Philadelphia.

From the Eagles’ perspective, pulling off a trade for Maxx Crosby would be a franchise-altering decision. Adding one of the league’s premier pass rushers to an already loaded defensive front would, without a doubt, give Philly the best defense in the NFL.

It would signal that the organization is all in on maximizing its current window, even with major extensions on the horizon.

If the Raiders truly are listening, expect Roseman and the Eagles to be among the teams ready to make a serious offer.
