'Doesn't know what he's doing': Frank Leboeuf'very upset'with Chelsea player, miles off£27m Arsenal star

Robert Sanchez won’t want to look back at the highlights of his performance during Chelsea’s defeat against Arsenal, and Frank Leboeuf is far from impressed.

Ever since Sanchez joined Chelsea for £25m, the Spaniard has been capable of a blunder. While he is a top goalkeeper, an excellent shot-stopper, he is one of those who regularly makes a big mistake.

Whether it be the two mistakes he made in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals, or almost giving the ball away on the edge of the area on Sunday, Sanchez does not inspire confidence in the defence.

Who deserves the blame for Liam Rosenior’s first Premier League defeat?

Rosenior had his head in his hands when Sanchez almost conceded possession to Viktor Gyokeres. If Rosenior needed convincing that Sanchez should be replaced this summer, he got it on Sunday.

What Frank Leboeuf said about Robert Sanchez

It’s not the first time that Chelsea have been linked with new goalkeepers and replacing the Spanish stopper. Speaking to ESPN, former Chelsea star Leboeuf was very critical of Chelsea’s no.1 goalkeeper.

The Chelsea icon said that every time Sanchez is in possession of the ball, he becomes nervous and even compared him to Arsenal’s £27m man David Raya, claiming Sanchez is miles behind Arsenal’s star.

“He’s a very good goalkeeper but we have to stop telling him that he’s capable of playing out from the back. He’s bad from his feet, he scares everybody. I was jumping every time he got the ball. He’s a danger.

“Rosenior should tell him to stop being so easy-going because he doesn’t know what he’s doing on the ball. I was very upset with that. You could see the difference between Sanchez and Raya, it was huge.”

Which goalkeepers are on Chelsea’s radar this summer?

Chelsea have already made a move to help Sanchez out behind the scenes, bringing in goalkeeping coach Casper Ankergren. The Danish stopper played for Leeds and Brighton during his playing career.

Who would you prefer – Roefs or Verbruggen?

Both are rated at £50m.

But come the summer, a priority will be a new goalkeeper. Mike Maignan has signed a new contract at AC Milan, but the Blues have plenty of options on the shortlist. Roma’s Mile Svilar is supposedly a target.

Then there are Premier League duo Bart Verbruggen and Robin Roefs, who are both rated in the region of £50m by Brighton and Sunderland. A goalkeeper will be targeted this summer by the London side.
