NFL Draft expert, Todd McShay feels Ty Simpson is in a good position to be an early first-round pick in April’s 2026 NFL Draft.

Simpson had an impressive showing while throwing the football at the NFL Scouting Combine. McShay likes what the showing has put Simpson among the 2026 NFL quarterback prospects.

“I’m a big Ty Simpson fan, despite the 6’1″, the injuries and the 15 starts,” McShay said. “But I’m already starting to hear people like, could he go as high as Cleveland, sitting there at six, and I hope for Ty Simpson, he does not become a Cleveland Brown… I think he’s different, and I think that there are some teams out there that are just trying to be really quiet about it because everyone’s talking about (Fernando) Mendoza, and then the rest of the quarterbacks suck. It’s just not the deal. And Ty Simpson is going to go somewhere in the first, and it won’t shock me if it’s in the top 15.”

Getting drafted by the Browns is something McShay feels will not be good for Simpson, but he does like an NFC team taking Simpson as the No. 13 overall pick.

“They don’t have the protection,” McShay said. “They don’t have the weapons. I’d love to see him with the Rams. They pick at 13 in the first of their two picks.”

Simpson appears to have secured the QB2 spot in the 2026 NFL Draft.
