The Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback situation is a little precarious with Patrick Mahomes recovering from an ACL injury.
We aren't sure if Gardner Minshew will return, which leaves young Chris Oladokun as the only other quarterback on the roster.
With Mahomes fighting against the tide to be ready for Week 1, there is a thought that maybe Week 6 or around that time is a better timeline for the star quarterback.
So, who could the Chiefs look to as a bridge option if Patrick isn't ready for Week 1?
Kay Adams has a rather interesting option.
"What if Kirk Cousins goes to the Chiefs?" Adams said. "He's expected to be released, I assume Kansas City is going to want to bring in a big dog, an experienced quarterback. Patrick's recovering from his ACL injury. Mahomes, god-willing, is there Week 1, hard to think of a better insurance policy if he does need a little more time."

Why Cousins works in Kansas City
He's going to be released by the Atlanta Falcons, so the Chiefs can name their price. Cousins still has starter value in the league, so the big question would be, is he ok with being a backup to Mahomes?
If he is, then the Chiefs can take their time with Patrick's recovery as they would have a veteran quarterback who is a dependable starter. You know what you're getting with Cousins.
Plus, he will be able to make it work with the Chiefs' offensive weapons, along with being a good fit for Andy Reid.
Yes, it is a little out there, but Cousins in Kansas City does make sense...if he's willing to be a backup.
