Report: Blazers sign Youngblood to two-way contract

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The Portland Trail Blazers have signed guard Chris Youngblood to a two-way contract, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The Portland Trail Blazers are signing guard Chris Youngblood to a two-way NBA deal from the Oklahoma City Thunder's OKC Blue G League team, agent Kashim Butler of KBA Sports tells ESPN. Youngblood played 32 games on a two-way with the Thunder as a rookie last season.

The 24-year-old rookie was released by the Oklahoma City Thunder last month after appearing in 32 NBA games this season on a two-way contract. He averaged two points over five minutes per game.

Under the terms of the contract, Youngblood will split his time between the Blazers and the Rip City Remix of the NBA G League. Portland had a vacant two-way spot after converting Sidy Cissoko to a standard NBA contract on Feb. 20, subsequently releasing guard Rayan Rupert.

Youngblood went unselected in the 2025 NBA Draft after a standout five-year collegiate career, spending three seasons at Kennesaw State and one year at South Florida before finishing up at Alabama.

The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native played a key role on the Crimson Tide’s Elite Eight run in the 2024-25 season, and was the AAC co-Player of the Year the previous season while playing at South Florida.

Youngblood was a 39% three point shooter over 150 games at the college level, averaging nearly six attempts per contest.

In 17 G League appearances with the Oklahoma City Blue this season, he averaged just over 20 points, while shooting 34% from three-point land over nine attempts per game.

According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Portland is also releasing guard Javonte Cooke, clearing up an empty two-way roster spot.

The Portland Trail Blazers are waiving Javonte Cooke, league sources told @hoopshype. Cooke appeared in 19 games for Portland. He’s been a G League standout, averaging 22.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.9 steals for with the Rip City Remix, Portland’s G League affiliate

Cooke appeared in 19 games for the Blazers this season, while averaging 23 points over 15 games with the Remix.

Caleb Love has appeared in 45 games with the Blazers on a two-way contract this season, averaging 11 points while playing an unexpectedly key role on an injury-depleted roster that has since seen multiple players return to the lineup.

He hasn’t played in an NBA game since Feb. 12, but has since appeared in two games for the Remix.

Teams are allowed up to three players on two-way contracts at a time. Two-way contracts are non-guaranteed, and allow a player to appear in up to 50 NBA games, while splitting their time in the G League.

The Blazers (29-33) have lost four of the six games played after the NBA All-Star break. They face the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, in the penultimate leg of a five-game road trip.
