Atlanta Falcons' running back Bijan Robinson #7 runs for a second quarter touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on October 20, 2024.
When it comes to Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson, he’s quickly become one of the most dynamic players in the NFL.
And he just completed his third season.
Robinson’s career is only getting started, and for a team that has struggled to find consistency over the last several years, he has been one of the few constants in Atlanta.
It’s arguable that Robinson is the centerpiece of the franchise — the player the Falcons should continue to build around. That is, of course, if new head coach Kevin Stefanski, general manager Ian Cunningham and president of football Matt Ryan see it the same way.
If not, there would be plenty of teams willing to make a call.
Apparently, the New York Giants already have.
Giants Reportedly ‘Checked In’ on Falcons RB Bijan Robinson
According to Giants insider Wesley Steinberg, New York has inquired about Robinson’s availability.
“I’m told #Giants have ‘checked in’ with the #Falcons over availability of RB Bijan Robinson. HC John Harbaugh has made upgrading the RB room his highest priority,” Steinberg said.
Both the Falcons and Giants are operating under new head coaches. Atlanta, however, is dealing with an entirely new front office, one tasked with correcting the missteps of the previous regime.
What that ultimately means for the roster remains to be seen. Still, trading Robinson would seem highly unlikely given his production and status as a fan favorite.
It’s easy to understand why Harbaugh would want him. Robinson is coming off his first First-Team All-Pro selection and is a two-time Pro Bowler. He totaled 2,298 yards and 11 touchdowns, further cementing himself as one of the league’s premier offensive weapons.
Falcons’ Contract Decision Looms on Bijan Robinson
It’s unclear why the Giants would believe Robinson is even available, though they could attempt to entice Atlanta with draft capital.
The Falcons currently hold just five picks in the 2026 NFL Draft and do not own a first-round selection. Robinson is also entering the final year of his rookie deal unless the Falcons exercise his $11.3 million fifth-year option.
His next contract could reset the running back market, potentially exceeding what Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs is projected to earn — north of $20 million annually.
Still, based on how Stefanski has spoken about Robinson, there’s little indication Atlanta is entertaining the idea of moving him.
“I can’t wait to coach him,” Stefanski told Rich Eisen. “I’ve had a lot of conversations with him… But this guy is wired the right way. He is all ball, all the time.
“Forget how physically gifted he is — which we all know and we all see — but just getting to see and know the person. I can’t tell you how pumped I am to coach this young man. And for us and offensive staff to put a system with this guy in mind… the impact he has in the building, being the person he is — is off the charts.”
That doesn’t sound like a coach preparing to move on from his best offensive player.
At this point, the Giants’ call may have been nothing more than due diligence — a “can’t hurt to ask” type of inquiry.
But it’s hard to envision Atlanta seriously considering it.
