Arsenal will have to see off competition from elsewhere if they are to land the player this summer
Manchester City are ‘willing’ to pay £70million to sign Arsenal-linked Tino Livramento from Newcastle United this summer, according to TEAMtalk. Pep Guardiola is keen to lure the defender to the Etihad Stadium in the next transfer window. His side are currently chasing down the Gunners in the title race.
Mikel Arteta’s side remain top of the Premier League table as they look to get their hands on the trophy. They won 2-1 at home against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon. William Saliba and Jurrien Timber got their goals against the Blues.
Arsenal face Manchester City competition in pursuit of Tino Livramento at Newcastle United
Arsenal are well stocked up in Livramento’s position right now. They have Timber at their disposal, as well as Ben White. However, if the latter leaves at the end of the season, they would need another option.
Livramento, 23, is under contract at Newcastle until June 2028 meaning he still has two years left to run down. He has been with the Toon Army since joining them back in 2023 and he has become one of their key players. Prior to his move, he had spells at Chelsea and Southampton.
The England international, who has three caps to his name, has made 99 appearances for the Magpies in all competitions to date, 19 of which have come this term. Eddie Howe won’t want to lose him anytime soon, especially to a team in the same division. It would be hard for them to stand in the way of an exit though, especially if a bid of £70million comes in for his signature.
Arsenal boost title hopes with Chelsea win
Speaking after their important victory over Chelsea, Arsenal manager Arteta said: “A proper London derby. We expected that because of the quality of the opposition, because of the individual quality that they have, and because we played them four times already, so we know how good and difficult they are to play against.
“After we started the game so well, the first half was very, very dominant. I think the margin and the scoreline should have been bigger. But we were 1-1, so game on. I reminded them that we were in exactly the same position against the Spurs seven days ago in that dressing room. They said, look what happened in the second half, so we're going to do it again.”
