Bobby Portis delivered a candid critique of the Milwaukee Bucks following their 108-81 loss to the Boston Celtics on Monday, marking the team’s third consecutive defeat.
Before the current slide, Milwaukee had won eight of 10 games, but the veteran Portis credited the streak more to the caliber of opponents than to the team’s own performance on the court.
When asked what he made of the Bucks dropping three straight games by a combined 79 points after winning eight of 10 games, Bobby Portis gave a definitive response, calling the 8-of-10 stretch "fool's gold."

“Just playing better teams. Kind of fool’s gold, for real. Rolling eight out of 10, playing against bottom teams, teams that’s trying to lose, forreal, right? Playing against some teams that are jockeying for position. We used to be in that position too, jockeying for position, you got certain games on your schedule that you can’t lose,” Portis remarked via The Athletic’s Eric Nehm.
Milwaukee rode a solid streak with back-to-back wins against the New Orleans Pelicans and a triumph over the Indiana Pacers, two of the league’s lower-ranked teams. They also pulled off a victory against the Chicago Bulls, who are just below them at 12th in the Eastern Conference.

In their recent losses, the Bucks have dropped three straight games to the Celtics, Bulls, and New York Knicks, losing by an average of 26.3 points.
“Guys are circling us and we the can’t lose team. So, they’re coming in and trying to win that game and that’s a must-win game for them. Can’t drop it. That’s how they’re looking at us, right? So, credit the other teams for locking in and getting a dub, but on our side, we gotta look at it as the hungry team, the team that’s hunting them now. Crazy how fast time and things can change and shift, but so much season left, right? We got five-and-a-half, six weeks to fix it and I think we will,” the Bucks forward continued.

The Bucks however did get a lift on Monday as Giannis Antetokounmpo rejoined the lineup after sitting out 15 games with a calf injury. With 22 games left, the Bucks trail the Charlotte Hornets by 3.5 games for the East’s final play-in spot.
