Wesley Fofana leaks Chelsea’s game plan for Aston Villa clash

Wesley Fofana has told Aston Villa what to expect when Chelsea travel to Villa Park on Wednesday.

Chelsea are looking to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal over the weekend, while Villa are hoping to put their 2-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers behind them with a win.

Fofana missed the Arsenal game because of suspension but is available for selection again. In total, Chelsea have picked up an astonishing nine red cards this season.

Who will get sent off next? 🔴

Something is telling me Andrey Santos! 🤷‍♂️

Chelsea set to press high at Villa Park

With the likes of Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins, Villa are a very dangerous outfit in transition and on the counter-attack.

Nevertheless, Chelsea are still going to engage them high on the pitch, according to Fofana.

In an interview that has been shared by Chelsea’s official club website, the defender said: “Aston Villa is a good team and we will try to play good football, try to be aggressive, to press high and to win the game and take the three points.”

Fofana — if the centre-back starts — and the rest of Chelsea’s defence will be tasked with trying to stop Rogers, who is one of the best attackers in the Premier League.

Is another red card on the horizon? 😡

Rogers could be a suitable replacement for Cole Palmer if the Chelsea star ever leaves Stamford Bridge.

Some Chelsea fans have not been happy with Palmer and have expressed their dissatisfaction with his form on TalkingPoints.

Why Wesley Fofana shouldn’t return to starting XI

In terms of natural ability, Fofana may be the best centre-half at Chelsea. It is a toss-up between him and Levi Colwill.

However, Trevoh Chalobah has definitely been the Blues’ most consistent centre-back this season, while Mamadou Sarr coped pretty well in his full Premier League debut on Sunday.

With that in mind, Liam Rosenior should not act too hastily and throw Fofana straight back into the side just because the Frenchman is available again.

Fofana lost his spot because of suspension and should now have to win it back, especially with Chalobah and Sarr not doing too much wrong at the Emirates. Rosenior cannot reward bad behaviour while punishing the ones in his squad who are doing all the right things at the moment.
