Wolves are back in Premier League on Tuesday night against Liverpool

Wolves boss Rob Edwards has said Jackson Tchatchoua has been ‘outstanding’ since his appointment. The 24-year-old has caught the eye at Molineux over recent times. He made the switch to England back in August last year.

The Midlands outfit remain bottom of the Premier League table. They are inside the drop zone along with Burnley and West Ham. Nevertheless, they won 2-0 at home against rivals Aston Villa last time out.

Wolves’ Jackson Tchatchoua catching the eye

Wolves landed Tchatchoua last summer to bolster their ranks. He has since adapted pretty well to life with them and is becoming a key player. His contract expires in June 2030 after he penned a long-term five-year deal so he still has plenty of time left to run down.

The Cameroon international, who has 14 caps to his name, started his career in Belgium. He had spells as a youngster with the likes of Standard Liege and OH Leuven. Charleroi then came calling in 2016 and he went on to break into their first-team as a teenager.

Hellas Verona subsequently lured him over to Italy on an initial loan deal that was later made permanent in 2023. He was one of their most prized assets and made 64 appearances in all competitions, finding the net on two occasions from the back. Wolves then swooped to land him and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they faced a battle to keep him over the coming months, assuming they slip into the Championship as expected.

Wolves boss Rob Edwards full of praise for Jackson Tchatchoua

Wolves head coach Edwards has been full of praise for Tchatchoua and has said, as per the official club website: “I said to him today, that because they know how quick he is, and the qualities that he has, supporters just want to see him go and be brave. If it doesn't come off, go and do it again. I'll be stood on the touchline clapping and trying to encourage that. I think we saw more of that in the second half, and what he is capable of doing – it was great that he was involved in the goal.

“One thing I will say is he's in the team to defend first and then give us that attacking threat. His defensive work has been outstanding since we've arrived. It's important people don't forget that, because invariably, especially in the Premier League, he’s up against a world class left winger, or more than just a left winger, probably a full-back and a midfielder as well, because of the amount of numbers that teams can get high up, and his defensive work has been great. He's been doing very well with that.”
