Over the past few weeks, Sport Witness have covered Arsenal’s interest in Inter Milan talent Francesco Pio Esposito.

Talk around the Gunners’ interest in the striker has escalated since he featured in the Champions League against them. The Italian didn’t score but he was constantly a threat, as Inter lost 3-1 at the San Siro.

Since then, he has scored some big goals – finding the net against Juventus in Serie A. That has played a role in taking Pio Esposito’s stature to new heights.

In all competitions this season, he has seven goals and six assists.

Now, more details are emerging about Arsenal’s interest.

Arteta a big fan of Italian

Arsenal interest has been picked up by Gazzetta dello Sport today.

They make it clear that Arsenal and Mikel Arteta were left impressed by Pio Esposito after the Champions League game. The manager is said to have told sporting director Andrea Berta to check up on the possibility of signing the striker, who had also caught the Italian’s eye.

This led to Berta immediately contacting Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio. The Arsenal representative made enquiries about whether Pio Esposito is for sale or not and about his asking price.

The Nerazzurri’s response was short and firm, making it clear there is no room for negotiation.

They see the Italy international as a key part of their future and have no intentions to sell him. This paused any possibility of Arsenal signing the player.

Inter’s response is no surprise, considering how Pio Esposito has risen through the ranks so quickly.

He was the Serie B Player of the Season during the 2024/25 campaign, when he was loaned out to Spezia. The 20-year-old already has three goals for the Azzurri.

Many expect him to lead the line at the World Cup, if Italy qualify. That would only increase his valuation and send a message that he is one of the best young talents around.
