Chelsea are preparing for promising young striker Dastan Satpaev to join the club before the 2026/27 season, and are trusting his development with the family of club captain Reece James.
Satpaev became the first player from Kazakhstan to score in the Champions League, showing his promise despite playing for minnows Kairat Almaty.
He has also become a regular for the national team despite only being 17 years of age, with him eligible to join the Blues when he turns 18 in August.

Chelsea trust Reece James’ father with mentoring wonderkid Dastan Satpaev
Chelsea have already sent a coach to work with Satpaev in Kazakhstan, but now seem to be leaving him in the capable hands of James’ father, Nigel.
He took to his coaching Instagram page to state that his company have been ‘trusted with the support and mentorship’ of the youngster before he is promoted to the first team squad.

He said: “Nigel James Elite Coaching has been trusted with the support and mentorship of the talented Dastan Satpayev.
“The talented youngster is set to join Chelsea from Kairat next season. The 17 year old forward is the most exciting talent to emerge from Kazakhstan.
“Exciting times ahead for Dastan, Nigel James Elite Coaching and Chelsea.”
The Kazakhstan league season is set to get underway this weekend, with it looking like Satpaev has overcome an injury issue that ruled him out of the final Champions League game against Arsenal.
He played 19 minutes of the Super Cup final, scoring his spot kick as his side lost on penalties.

Chelsea have high hopes for Satpaev at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea have been told Satpaev will be better than Nicolas Jackson in two years’ time, and have high hopes for what he will bring to the club in the future.
The youngster has continued to break records for club and country, with Todd Boehly and co hoping he will follow in the footsteps of Estevao Willian and Andrey Santos.
He currently has 27 goal contributions for the first team squad in 43 games, and was essential for them even qualifying for the Champions League, a historic moment for the club.
