Rodri could leave Man City at the end of the season amid interest from Real Madrid, and the transfer implications could be huge for Liverpool.
The Ballon d’Or winner is contracted at the Etihad until the end of next season, so the ball is in his court with regards to his future.
If he decides he wants to leave, City will look to cash in and a very interested suitor is waiting in the wings.
Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel: “So your questions on Real Madrid. For sure, Rodri has fans internally at Real Madrid, has people in Real Madrid’s management appreciating him. So for sure, Rodri could be an option for Real Madrid in the summer.
“But it’s Rodri who has to decide before any Real Madrid negotiation or attempt is Rodri who has to decide in the summer whether he wants to stay at Manchester City and consider signing a new contract.”

If he does make the switch to the Spanish capital, long-time Liverpool target Eduardo Camavinga could become a real possibility.
Eduardo Camavinga move to Liverpool could be facilitated by Rodri
If the decision is reached for Rodri to go to the Bernabeu, it’s likely one of the current Madrid midfielders will be heading the other way.

Jurgen Klopp tried to sign Camavinga five years ago when he was one of the hottest young prospects in Europe. He has developed into an elite midfielder who has the versatility to play in multiple positions.
As talented as the Frenchman is, he isn’t getting as much of a run this season as he would like.

If Madrid are to recruit Rodri — as different as their profiles are — it doesn’t give Camavinga much hope of his role growing.
That’s where Liverpool can seize the opportunity and make a much-needed addition in the middle of the park.
Eduardo Camavinga’s fit at Liverpool
Camavinga is a truly unique proposition. While his primary position is as a deep-lying midfielder, he has played plenty of games on both flanks for Los Blancos, at left-back, and even as an attacking midfielder.
A jack of all trades, and master of quite a few.
Looking at Camavinga’s per 90 stats in La Liga this season (via FotMob), he is in the top 10% of midfielders in duels won (7.53), tackles (4.02), passing accuracy (91.9%), and long ball accuracy (70.6%).
For context, all those numbers are better than what Ryan Gravenberch has produced in the six for Liverpool. Sure, it’s a harder league but it’s a large margin in almost every metric.

Camavinga is a more natural fit for the role than Gravenberch. He wouldn’t come cheap, though.
Liverpool reportedly considered a £52 million bid back in December, but that honestly feels very low. Price shouldn’t put FSG off Camavinga — this could secure the future of our midfield.
If Rodri decides he’s going to Madrid, Liverpool should absolutely step up their pursuit of the 23-year-old.
