Hurzeler lays down the challenge as he plans to rest Milner against Arsenal

James Milner is set to step down for the Gunners clash and Hurzeler confirmed it will not be an unchanged XI this time.

Danny Welbeck is also a candidate for squad rotation but Yasin Ayari is likely to be available after recovering from a shoulder dislocation.

Mats Wieffer is fit and available, despite going off in the win over Nottingham Forest.

Hurzeler believes the time is right for Milner to take a break after two impressive displays in the No.6 role.

He says he has competition for places and has called for those who come into the side to provide energy.

Star names who have been sidelined of late include Yankuba Minteh, Georginio Rutter and Carlos Baleba, who could be the man to take the Milner midfield role.

Hurzeler said: “We show the players who are not starting at the moment what they need to do to get back and most times it's quite simple.

“It's hard work. It's showing it in every training session, it's showing it no matter how many game minutes you have, two minutes, three minutes, 20 minutes to show that I want to get back in the team.

“That it was the wrong decision from the gaffer to put me on the bench, and I think that's attitude players need to have.

“They have to take responsibility. They have to accept the situation like it is and try to get out of it, together with our help.

“It's also about mental support because some of the players weren't often in these kinds of situations.

“They are young players coming from different cultures.

“I know that it's not easy to be on the bench and to not play so we have to also be there for them.

“It needs to be a good mix between caring and challenging the players.”
