Liverpool, embroiled in a heated battle for Champions League qualification, will be keen to sidestep an upset when they face Wolves at Molineux on Tuesday. The Reds, currently sitting fifth in the table, bolstered their tally to 48 points with a 5-2 triumph over West Ham United on Saturday and are clear favourites against bottom-placed Wolves.

However, Wolves demonstrated some resilience by beating Aston Villa 2-0 on Friday, a result that marked only their second league victory of the season and saw them snatch points from three of the current top four.

With 13 points, Wolves have at least dodged the disgrace of Derby County's record-low 11-point Premier League campaign in 2007-08. Whilst manager Rob Edwards cannot guide his team to safety, his recent record-two victories, five draws, and four defeats in the last 11 matches-suggests Wolves may prove tougher opponents than their league position suggests.

Offensively, Wolves have faltered, failing to find the net in five of their last eight matches, but they have secured three clean sheets during that period and have collected eight points from their last six home fixtures.

Liverpool's resounding victory over West Ham didn't entirely mirror the match's equilibrium, with the Hammers equalling the Reds in significant opportunities and xG, and even slightly dominating possession at Anfield. Manager Arne Slot emphasised the significance of set pieces, as Liverpool netted their first three goals from corners and established a new Premier League record with seven consecutive goals from non-penalty set piece.

Defensively, Liverpool had maintained three clean sheets prior to the West Ham fixture and have scored at least twice in six of their last nine matches.

The Reds will strive to prolong their winning streak against Wolves to seven games, although their last three triumphs have all been tight 2-1 outcomes, including the reverse fixture in December 2025. Slot's team seem to have regained momentum with four consecutive victories leading into this match, and they have won six of their last seven fixtures in all competitions.

Liverpool's away form has also been commendable, with just one loss in their last 10 away games and six victories during that period.

Wolves vs Liverpool Team News

Wolves' young talent Mateus Mane is poised to start once more due to his striking performances in attack, whilst Angel Gomes is anticipated to join forces with Joao Gomes in midfield following Andre's recent injury. In defence, Toti Gomes, Santiago Bueno, and Yerson Mosquera are predicted to constitute the defensive trio ahead of goalkeeper Jose Sa.

For the away side, Slot has hinted that Florian Wirtz may not recover in time for Tuesday, so Dominik Szoboszlai should persist as the number 10. Despite recent downturns in performance, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo are expected to retain their positions in the lineup, alongside striker Hugo Ekitike.

Jeremie Frimpong, who made a comeback from injury against West Ham, could begin to regain his match fitness for the rest of the season.
