Liverpool youngster Kieran Morrison has now equalled a club record with at least three games left to play with the U21s – having dropped his “class clown” act.
Morrison scored twice as Liverpool earned a 4-2 win over Tottenham U21s last time out to bring his season’s tally to 12 goals and three assists in 15 league games.
In doing so, the 19-year-old equalled Harry Wilson‘s record for the most league goals in a single season of any Liverpool U21s player since records began.
Wilson, currently thriving in what could be his final season at Fulham, also hit 12 goals in the 2016/17 campaign.

Only eight players have scored 10 or more league goals for Liverpool U21s since 2009/10, with two of those coming in the current campaign.

Striker Keyrol Figueroa is also into double digits having netted 11 times so far this season.
Wilson achieved the feat twice (12 in 2016/17 and 10 in 2017/18), while Krisztian Adorjan and Adam Morgan both scored 10 in 2012/13 along with Jack Dunn in 2013/14.
Layton Stewart was the last player to hit 10 or more league goals for Liverpool U21s having fired 11 times in the 2022/23 campaign.
Why Kieran Morrison is on course to break Harry Wilson’s record

Morrison still has the opportunity to set a new record with Rob Page’s side due to play at least three more games in Premier League 2 this term.
They are set to face Wolves (March 8), Man City (March 16) and Crystal Palace (March 22) in the final games of the regular season before the elimination playoffs begin.
The top 16 teams in the 29-team league qualify for the playoffs and though Liverpool are currently fifth they are not yet to guaranteed a place – however it is highly likely they will progress and set up a single-legged tie in the round of 16.
It means Morrison can eclipse Wilson’s record with just one more goal – having struck five times in his last three appearances for the U21s and been given the captain’s armband in Amara Nallo’s recent absence.

“I saw from day one he had the ability, but there were certain things he was doing in and around, not just on the field but off the field,” Page told The Redmen TV‘s Dan Clubbe after the win at Tottenham U21s.
“So I’ve absolutely drilled that into him and he’s taken it on board. He can’t be the class clown anymore.
“Giving him the armband as well has made him step up to lead by example, and he’s doing that and some. I’m so proud of him.”
Could Kieran Morrison play for Liverpool’s first team this season?

Morrison’s progress this season has not only been recognised by U21s head coach Page, but also by Arne Slot, who has promoted the teenager to become regular in first-team training in recent weeks.
That has seen the right winger make the bench in four of the last seven games and could see him involved on the pitch as Liverpool play Wolves twice in four days this week.
This Is Anfield understands Liverpool have offered Morrison a new long-term contract which is yet to be accepted, but talks are ongoing over an extension to a deal which runs to 2027.
