There wasn’t a lack of fire from the Washington Wizards guard, Trae Young, on Monday.

Unfortunately, Young was sent home early as he was ejected from the game. On the other side, Houston’s forward Tari Eason was tossed after getting assessed two technical fouls.

After the game, Trae Young took to social media to break his silence with a message to the Wizards’ fan base.

“Don’t expect me to get ejected too many more times D.C.” Young said.

“But I’m definitely bringing that energy & competitiveness when I’m back for my brothers!”

The March 2 ejection was just the second in Young’s career. The first time occurred during an April 15, 2025, matchup between the Atlanta Hawks and the Orlando Magic. At the time, Young snatched the ball from an NBA referee and wouldn’t give it up until he was ordered to leave the court with four minutes left to go in the game.

When Will Trae Young Make His Debut?

GettyAfter getting traded to the Washington Wizards from the Atlanta Hawks, Trae Young has been recovering from a setback, which has prevented his official debut with the team.

All signs are pointing to Young making his debut this week.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Young is certain he will be able to debut for the Wizards’ Thursday night game against the Utah Jazz at home. Before Washington got there, they had to get through matchups against the Rockets and now the Orlando Magic.

Washington Wizards star Trae Young will make his team debut on Thursday against the Utah Jazz at home.

Against the Rockets, Young’s team lost 123-118. On Tuesday, March 3, the Wizards will be on the court on the road in Orlando, Florida, to close out a back-to-back set against the Orlando Magic.

Young landed with the Wizards after a disappointing conclusion with the Atlanta Hawks. Once Young and the Hawks didn’t agree on an extension, it was clear that any sign of struggle from Young in Atlanta in 2025-2026 could lead to a change of scenery.

In early January, the Wizards and the Hawks struck a deal. Unfortunately, Young was in the midst of a long recovery. He missed six games in a row for the Hawks before getting dealt away.

Since January 9, Young has been out. That’s when he officially became a member of the Wizards. While there was a league-wide assumption that suggested the Wizards were keeping Young on ice until next season, the veteran star is ready to get back out on the court and begin working with his new teammates.

Earlier this season, Young appeared in 10 games for the Hawks. He produced 19.3 points and 8.9 assists, while shooting 41% from the field and 30% from three.

After a fifth-straight loss against the Rockets, the Wizards dropped to 16-44 on the year. They are 2-8 over their last 10 games. Only the Brooklyn Nets and the Indiana Pacers are in a worse spot in the Eastern Conference. Soon, the Wizards will see if Young offers a notable boost.
