The Toffees are enjoying a strong campaign under the experienced manager, sitting in eighth and eyeing a potential European place.

They come into tonight’s game against the Clarets off the back of an impressive 3-2 away win at Newcastle United on Saturday.

“I like Everton. Good side. Brilliant coach in David and good team,” Parker said ahead of Burnley’s first ever trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

“You can see players coming back now as well. Last time we played them, they were a little bit more depleted down to injuries and players being away of AFCON.

“They've made some acute signings in the summer with some real good players and they're picking up some really good results, one being only the weekend, obviously, going away to Newcastle and getting three points there.

“I’ve not been to the new stadium yet, so it will be a different experience, but we're up against a huge challenge here, of course, we are.

“But as always, we're looking forward to that challenge and we're looking to try and take this head-on.”

As impressive as Everton have been this season, they have struggled a little in their new home, winning just four of their 14 games on home turf - which is something Burnley will be looking to take advantage of.

“As always when you're going away from home, you need to manage the atmosphere,” Parker added.

“You need to manage the whole dynamics of the football match and that'll be something that'll be paramount for us in this game.

“Them coming off the back of a good result, we're going to have to go about our work here, being diligent, being organised, professional in what we do, not too emotionally high in certain moments. Let's see where it takes us.”

Burnley missed a golden opportunity to claw back some ground at the weekend, with all of their relegation rivals losing.

But playing a day ahead of Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Tottenham for the second game running, the Clarets must take advantage and apply some early pressure.

“I didn’t know about that,” Parker said. “But at the weekend, that certainly wasn’t our focus.

“We went into the game at the weekend wanting to win and with the mindset of having to win the game. We’ve got to win games. We’ve got to gain as many points as we can.

“The teams in and around us are the teams in and around us, so we'll go there again on Tuesday and try and get a performance.

“At the weekend, we didn't really have that. It was a part performance. The first bit, no. And then three-quarters of the game, yes.

“We now need to try and narrow this gap because that's been a constant theme at this present moment in time. For sure, we need to try and put together a full 90-minute game because even the positive results we've come out of in being Crystal Palace, you don’t want to be giving yourself that task.”
