TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara has claimed Everton striker Beto actually plays just like his co-host Jason Cundy used to.
Beto led the Blues to all three points on Saturday, with an impressive display against Newcastle United on Tyneside.
It was a rare start for the 28-year-old at Everton, having not started a Premier League game since the turn of the year.
David Moyes was massively impressed with Beto following his performance at St James’ Park.

However, O’Hara has shared his concerns about the striker’s consistency, with a comparison made to his TalkSPORT co-host.

Jamie O’Hara thinks Everton’s Beto plays just like Jason Cundy did
Beto has thanked Everton’s fans for their support after what has been a turbulent 2025/26 campaign for the striker.
His goal on Saturday marked just his fourth of the season for the Toffees, which led O’Hara to suggest he had similar traits to his good friend, Cundy.

He simply MUST keep his spot in the XI to face Burnley! 🔥
Beto celebrates his goal for Everton in the away victory against Newcastle United.
“I thought Ndiaye was excellent. Dewsbury-Hall is having a fine season as well,” said Cundy on TalkSPORT.
“McNeil, you make the point, Jamie, in the green room when we’re watching: his touch for the goal. Alright, Nick Pope makes a right Horlicks of it, but his touch is just sublime. He gets his shot away, and then you’ve got Beto.”
“With Beto, you never know what you’re going to get from him,” replied O’Hara.
“He’s a bit like you playing up front. Just erratic. You don’t know what you’re going to get: it could be brilliant, it could be garbage.”
Admittedly, Moyes has demanded more from Beto on the back of his solid showing against the Magpies at the weekend.
However, to compare Beto with a former centre-back who only ever scored nine goals in his career is incredibly harsh.
There was nothing ‘erratic’ about Beto’s display at the weekend, with the striker showcasing a composed display against Eddie Howe’s side.
Beto deserves an opportunity to build consistency for Everton
Thierno Barry has earned the large majority of starts at Everton of late, but Beto took his opportunity on Saturday with both hands.
Coming up against three Burnley centre-backs on Tuesday is going to require a clever and physical performance from whoever starts up top for the Blues.
Moyes admitted he could play Barry and Beto up front together despite that being a tactic that has not proven popular in recent years.
In his last 190 minutes of Premier League football, Beto has returned to Everton with three goals.
Consistency is what matters for Moyes and, if he does start, Beto will be expected to carry on from where he left off at the weekend against Burnley on Tuesday.
