Giants trade rumor could result in deal with Seahawks, 49ers, Jets or Ravens

The New York Giants reportedly have an edge rusher available and that should be of interest to the San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, and Baltimore Ravens.

According to SNY's Connor Hughes, Big Blue is "actively exploring trade options" for former first-round pick and edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, who is entering the final year of his contract.

Hughes goes on to add that sources believe it would cost a fourth-round pick at most to acquire the Oregon product's services.

"Based on conversations with teams that met with New York, the sense is they would prefer to [trade Thibodeaux]. They are actively exploring trade options. Harbaugh, Aponte and Schoen must determine the appropriate value," Hughes reported.

"Most league sources SNY contacted found it difficult to envision a team parting with more than a fourth-round pick for Thibodeaux," Hughes added.

A former No. 5 pick, Thibodeaux has been a disappointment during his career. His production hasn't been great, and he has had issues staying healthy in all but one season.

That said, he has shown flashes of brilliance in the past after he posted 11.5 sacks in 2023, he's still just 25 years old, and he should come relatively cheap when it comes to draft compensation, as Hughes reported.

We could see the 49ers, Seahawks, Jets and Ravens making a play for the former No. 5 overall pick.

Could 49ers, Ravens, Seahawks, Jets have interest?

The Niners need more firepower along the edge opposite Nick Bosa after the team finished with the fewest sacks in the NFL in 2025, and Thibodeaux helps San Francisco address its desire to get younger.

Seattle could lose Boye Mafe in free agency, and if so the unit will need to add depth. The Seahawks could also use a true difference-maker at the position, something Thibodeaux could under defensive guru Mike Macdonald.

The Jets just unloaded Jermaine Johnson in a trade with the Tennessee Titans and the cupboard is bare at edge rusher outside of Will McDonald.

Last but not least, we have the Ravens, who are likely to let Kyle Van Noy leave in free agency after a disappointing season, and Baltimore's overall outlook at edge rusher wouldn't be great even if Van Noy returned.

Because Thibodeaux has one more year left on his deal, and with the Seahawks and Ravens being in definite win-now mode, we'd give them a better chance than the 49ers and Jets to acquire Thibodeaux.
