Stephen A. Smith has officially been "urged" to stop talking about an NBA coach's wife on TV.
The ESPN star brought up the wife of Sacramento Kings head coach Doug Christie on "First Take" on Monday. Smith and the "First Take" crew were reacting to a clip of Christie, a former NBA guard, using some smelling salts on the bench. Smith noted that Christie has always been a little odd, though he decided to bring up his wife, too.
Smith was quickly urged to stop by a fellow ESPN NBA analyst.
"I haven't spoken to Doug Christie in years, absolutely wonderful guy… And the wife, we know about the wife. Jackie, we know. Hey, how you doin?" Smith said.
"They were always wonderful to me," Smith continued, ignoring warnings from ESPN NBA writer Vincent Goodwill. "I don't know personal situations. I just know, years ago, him and the wife, I used to say hi to them all the time, they were wonderful to me. I don't know anything about the situation. I don't know anything. I see you, Vinny. I don't know anything. But I'm just telling you, with him, he's always been a bit different."
As Smith was talking about Christie's wife, Goodwill was trying to get him to stop, waving his hands and telling him to zip his lips.
Smith, clearly, chose to ignore that.
Jackie Christie, the wife of the NBA head coach, has been a reality TV star. She was featured on "Basketball Wives" and was just cast on season three of "House of Villains."
Doug Christie's wife has been the subject of a lot of rumors
Last season, former NBA star Chris Webber had to take to social media, to shoot down any rumors about him being involved with Christie's wife.
He posted a video online that received nearly 2 million views.
It's unclear if Smith knew anything about those rumors, but clearly, he's choosing to talk about the NBA head coach's wife for a reason on "First Take."
