Liverpool have been invovled in a surprise transfer as a rivial sporting director has expressed gratitude his for their professional approach during negotiations.
It was announced on Friday evening that Trent Kone-Doherty had completed a shocking permanent move to Norwegian club FK Molde.
As reported by the ECHO, Kone-Doherty, whose contract was set to expire at the season's end, has chosen to accept the prospect of potentially more consistent first-team opportunities rather than renew his Liverpool agreement.

While the transfer fee remains undisclosed, the ECHO understands that the deal is thought to be valued at €750,000 (£660,000), with Liverpool having also secured a substantial sell-on clause and a buy-back provision.
Responding to the transfer, Molde sporting director Ole Jakob Strandhagen commented: "Trent is a technically good and fast winger who has shown his skills and not least potential in the final third during his time at Liverpool.
"At the same time, he has intensity and pressure in the game that benefits the team both with and without the ball. He is well educated at Liverpool, and we are very happy that he has chosen Molde as the next step in his development.

Kone-Doherty said: "The process has been good and we thank Liverpool for a good negotiating climate, despite the fact that they also had a strong desire to keep Trent.
"We look forward to further developing his offensive qualities at Aker Stadion and in the Eliteserien. It's the perfect club for me to come to. I like the project I've been presented with here and I'm really excited to get started, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Kone-Doherty made two senior appearances for the Reds, making his debut as a substitute at Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup in February 2025 and then entering as a replacement against Crystal Palace last October.
We've lost a good player," under-21 manager Rob Page told Liverpool.com over the weekend when questioned about the transfer. "But in this job, you're in it to develop players. He's decided to move on.

We wanted to keep him. "There was an offer of a contract, so it's disappointing to see him go, but that's life. That's development football; it gives others an opportunity now to step into his place and we can focus on them."
