“Giannis is Shaq in guard form”: Jeff Teague give Giannis Antetokounmpo edge over Kevin Garnett …

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is in the greatest power forward conversation and former All-Star guard Jeff Teague named him as his choice for the second greatest power forward in NBA history. While many fans lean toward Kevin Garnett because of his intensity and commanding presence, the broader debate still begins with Tim Duncan at the top. Duncan set the standard at the position, winning two MVP awards, leading the San Antonio Spurs to five championships and earning three Finals MVP honors.

Jeff Teague says he would take Giannis Antetokounmpo over Kevin Garnett as the 2nd best power forward of all time:

“What Giannis can do nobody can do. Giannis is Shaq in like a guard form. Literally he runs you over, dunks on you. You know why I’m taking Giannis. And I love KG… https://t.co/J4GVhcbMR3 pic.twitter.com/0OBZnA7SRi

“What Giannis can do, nobody can do. Giannis is Shaq in a guard form. Literally, he runs you over, dunks on you. You know why I’m taking Giannis, and I love KG; he is probably one of my favorite basketball players, but Giannis didn’t have to leave to get his ring,” Jeff Teague commented during his podcast.

“He didn’t have no other Hall of Famers on his team to win. Like Jrue might be a Hall of Famer. It ain’t Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, they’re top 75.”

Garnett secured the MVP award in 2004 after leading the league in rebounds and putting up 24.2 points per game. Even with that level of production, he was unable to carry the Minnesota Timberwolves to a championship.

Even when Garnett captured his only NBA title with the Boston Celtics, he shared the spotlight with fellow NBA 75 Team members Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, with Pierce earning Finals MVP honors instead of Garnett.

By comparison, when Giannis secured back to back MVP awards, he averaged more than 27.5 points per game in each season and also claimed the Defensive Player of the Year honor during that stretch.

He also guided the Milwaukee Bucks to their first championship in 50 years without another All NBA level player alongside him and finished that run by earning Finals MVP honors. For Teague, that resume gives Giannis the stronger case as the clear driving force on a title team, placing him second on the all time list of power forwards.

Unlike Garnett, Antetokounmpo stayed with the franchise that drafted him instead of looking elsewhere for a title and pushed through difficult seasons along the way. He built the Bucks into a championship team, accomplishing what Garnett was unable to finish during his time in Minnesota.

Garnett’s legacy remains significant. The Big Ticket spent 20 seasons in the NBA, competed relentlessly, and left a lasting mark on the game. Meanwhile, Giannis, with fewer seasons played, has already matched Garnett in All-NBA selections and redefined the modern power forward with his versatile style.
