Ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, the [New York Jets](https://www.tsn.ca/nfl/team-page/new-york-jets/301) have applied the franchise tag to running back [Breece Hall](https://www.tsn.ca/nfl/player/breece-hall/868827), NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport notes.
The franchise for a running back carries a value of $14.293 million.
Rapoport notes that both sides will work towards a longer-term pact.
The 24-year-old Hall would have been set for free agency without the tag.
A native of Omaha, NE, Hall appeared in 16 games this past season for the team. He rushed for 1,065 yards on 243 carries with four touchdowns. It was Hall’s first season in which he reached the 1,000-yards rushing mark.
Originally taken with the 36th overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Iowa State, Hall has played in 56 games over four seasons. For his career, Hall has rushed for 3,398 yards on 755 carries with 18 touchdowns. In the air, Hall has hauled in 188 passes for 1,642 yards and another nine TDs.
The deadline for teams to apply a franchise or transition tag is later on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
