LeBron James is now involved in more drama with his agent Rich Paul and Lakers legend Byron Scott amid his uncertain future in Los Angeles.
LeBronJames’ long-time friend and agent, Rich Paul, has never been afraid to come to the defense of the NBA superstar, and that was once again the case after Los Angeles Lakers legend, Byron Scott, called out theleague’s all-time leading scorer.
Amid the rumors about James leaving the Lakers after this season, Scott took umbrage with his recent comments about players in the modern era not being able to play a full 82-game season.
Scott harshly urged James to ‘get the hell out of [Los Angeles]‘, and since then, Paul has fired back, igniting even more Lakers drama amid an already tumultuous season for the team.
“You can say or do something that looks or feels good in the moment, but looks foolish and probably is foolish and lives foolishly forever. For me, Iwas always taught to respect my elders. To respect everyone, but definitely to respect my elders,”Paul said on hisGame Over podcast with Max Kellerman.
Rich Paul responds to Byron Scott saying LeBrons comments about today’s era being harder than the 80s was ‘laughable’ 👀
“Everybody is going to be biased to the era they played in…. I think coming from someone (LeBron) who played in multiple eras, idk about the word laughable.… https://t.co/swnhI6NsBv pic.twitter.com/Xb0ewybhhl

“But then someday I sit there and think, and I see things, andI’m like, ‘But what about when your elders do things or say things that actually warrants disrespect?’ Andit’s been a lot of that going on.”
While Paul had a problem with what Scott said about James, rumors have indeed been circulating that this is his last season with the Lakers, and speculationhas only been mounting about his future in the NBA, whether James or Paul wants to admit it or not.
A Brief Timeline Of The LeBron James, Rich Paul, And Byron Scott Recent Saga
On a recent episode of his own podcast, Mind the Game, with guest Tyrese Haliburton, who is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon, James said that it is tough to play a full 82-game season in this era of the NBA.
“Playing 82 games in the 80s and 90s is not the same as playing 82 games in the 2020s,it’s just not,”James said. “The way we play, the level of pace and speedwe’re playing at,it’s a different game now. It’s a totally different game.”
Though it took just about a month for Scott to respond to those comments from James referencing his era, the three-time NBA champion responded with some strong words of his own.
“I just thought it was laughable coming from one of the greatest playersto ever play the game to sayit’s harder to play now than it was then,”the Lakers legend said on a recent radio appearnace. “I’m a fan, but Idon’t mince words either. I think this should be his last year here. Youdon’t got to go home, but you got to get the hell up out of here.”
Scott combinedboth a response toJames’ comments comparing the different eras, while also making hisfeelings clear about the rumors of him leaving the Lakers in free agency.

His quote has sparked the latest words from Paul about ‘respecting elders,‘but alsosaying Scott’s comments were disrespectful.
Either way, this is just another chapter in what looks to be a messy breakup between James and the Lakers, as his recent tenure with the team has not been all sunshine and rainbows, especially now that franchise legends are begging for him to leave.
LeBron James Lakers Future, Growing Exit Rumors
Speculation about James leaving the Lakers in free agency is nothing new. However, according to team insider Dan Woike of The Athletic, the reality thathe’ll exit the franchise this summer is becomingmore and more of a reality.
“For the first time in his professional life, Jameswon’t have full control of his destiny if he wants to keep playing. He’ll be a 41-year-old unrestricted free agent entering an offseason with limited suitors and even less available cap space,”Woike wrote. “His time with the Los Angeles Lakers, wherehe’s spent the longest consecutive stretch of his career, very well could be over after this season.”
“It makes every night suspenseful. Everygame could be the last something: the last game-winner, the last chasedown block, the last poster dunk. And still, crazily enough, there are occasional firsts.”
While a return to the Lakersis still on the table, thoughunlikely, James hasbeen linked to teamslike the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, and New York Knicks aspossible destinations to end his careerwith.
But until he makes up his mind about continuing to play or retiring, James will keep everyone on the edge of their seats until the news is official.
“These could credibly be his final months as an NBA player. These could credibly be his final months as aLaker. These could credibly be the launching pad to a 24th season — maybe even in Los Angeles — if things wereto suddenly click into place,”Woike added. “It’s all on the table — the excitement coming from the options that exist without a safety net. It’s truly a wild time.”
