Kendrick Perkins Champions Jaylen Brown As Front-Runner For NBA MVP

On a Tuesday airing of Get Up, ESPN's Kendrick Perkins advertised his backing of Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown to win the NBA MVP award.

"They have the best two-way player in the game, who I believe should be the MVP (in Brown)," Perkins said while discussing Boston's contention chances.

The Celtics' second-place standing in the East defies preseason predictions of tanking, thanks to Brown's scoring efficiency and defensive prowess. Perk previously noted parallels to Russell Westbrook's 2017 MVP run in OKC post-Kevin Durant, where Westbrook's individual brilliance lifted the squad.

Jaylen Brown is the BEST two way player in the league. 😤@KendrickPerkins is giving Jaylen his flowers, comparing this year to Russ’s historic MVP season.

Is Brown the most underrated star in the game? 🤔

As March unfolds, Brown's candidacy could gain traction if Boston maintains its surge.

Brown has remained characteristically durable in 2025-26, appearing in 54 games for the Celtics, averaging 29.0 points on 48.2% shooting, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.0 assists.
