Cole Palmer has often been compared to Frank Lampard, with both scoring goals from attacking midfield in a Chelsea shirt regularly, and Max Dowman has picked who is better.

Incredible numbers, but Cole Palmer is not far behind. Lampard scored goals at a rate of 0.32, while Palmer has managed 52 goals in 117 Chelsea games, which is higher than Lampard’s rate at 0.44.

If Palmer ends up remaining at Chelsea for the next 10 years, there is every chance he can record numbers as Lampard did. But Palmer’s best pal reckons the former Man City star will end up at Man United.
On Rising Ballers’ TikTok, Dowman was asked to pick a new player or an older player when given two names. Asked for Palmer or Lampard, Dowman hesitated before picking Chelsea’s current playmaker.

Lampard is not the only player that Palmer has been compared with in recent years. His form at Chelsea has earmarked him as one of the best players in the Premier League, and Chelsea need him at his best.

Steven Gerrard is another player compared with Palmer, by Jamie Carragher. Asked about the likeness between himself and Palmer, Gerrard said that he sees the same frustration he got while he was playing.
“I’ve heard Carra making those comparisons, and you can see it in the way he looks around sometimes. He’s got that elite frustration when things aren’t clicking,” Gerrard said after Liverpool beat Sunderland.
“But for me, you look at his output—he’s carrying the creative burden for a huge club at a very young age. It’s a lot of pressure, but he seems to have that inner belief that the top, top players have.”
What Chelsea need right now, is Palmer at his best. But for the foreseeable, that is unlikely, with Palmer playing with an injury. Alan Shearer has described it as a “horrible situation” to be in, for Palmer.
