While the Jets want to extend him, the two sides couldn't come to terms on a deal, and the Jets were forced to make a decision to let him hit free agency or use a tag. They elected to franchise tag Hall, placing the $14.293 million tag on their star running back.
Not long after the tag was reported, Hall took to Twitter/x and posted an instant-reaction to the news, commenting on the $14.293 million one-year contract the Jets are forcing upon the star running back.

Hall and the Jets have been in contract extension talks this offseason, though the two sides haven't been able to come to terms just yet.
This franchise tag doesn't mean they cannot agree to a new deal, but it does guarantee that Hall is staying with the Jets for at least one more year.
Coming off a strong 2025, where Hall ran for 1,065 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 243 carries to go with 350 receiving yards and a touchdown on 36 receptions, Hall was poised for a big contract this offseason.

While he could still land a lucrative contract this offseason, it would only be able to come from the Jets thanks to this franchise tag.
Hall is 25 years old and should be making more than just $14 million. While he can still sign a long-term deal with the Jets, for now, he's locked in for the 2026 season on a $14.293 million contract.
This isn't the contract Hall wanted, as he likely wants a long-term deal. But, he's still making the fourth-most money for a running back in 2026 at $14.293 million. He can still negotiate for an extension this offseason, even after this franchise tag was used by the Jets.
