After sitting out 15 games with a calf injury, Giannis Antetokounmpo made his return last night and debuted his new Nike Giannis Freak 8 signature shoe. He first showed off the pink based colorway during a scrimmage and later shared it on social media last week.
Nike says this first edition of the Giannis Freak 8 honors Antetokounmpo’s daughters. The shoe has a clean design with a low-cut mesh upper and a full-length ReactX midsole featuring a feather pattern on the heels. Giannis’s “GA” logo sits on the tongue, while the Swoosh appears on the sides.

“Every detail in the Freak 8 is underpinned by the design philosophy that a player like Giannis represents as a champion, a 10-time All-Star, and an all-league force: a player whose one-of-one athleticism is his competitive advantage. At the same time, one of Giannis’ key design priorities is to help share a competitive advantage with every young player who’s striving to reach the next level, which is why he was committed to maintain the same price point with the Freak 8 as the Freak 7,” Nike wrote in a press release.

“I’m a father of girls, so I try to represent them as much as I can. I know they are too young to understand, but when they get older, they’ll understand that they inspired me to be better. Be a better father, a better person, a better husband, a better basketball player,” Giannis commented via Nike.
The Nike Freak 8 will launch worldwide on August 1, 2026, available on nike.com and at some select retailers.
